Patient 10 Radiation Delayed

These photographs show a delayed (not at the same time as mastectomy) DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction in a woman, after she had a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. The radiated right breast skin was very stiff. Her goal was a more natural feeling breast. Her goal was also to be smaller in size. A single DIEP flap (not a double (stacked) DIEP flap) was used.

Below is the preoperative picture.

Below is a photograph of the woman after her right DIEP Flap breast reconstruction, nipple reconstruction, symmetrizing left breast reduction, and nipple areolar tattooing. The radiated left breast skin was originally contracted down to the chest wall. This chest skin was brought out and extra skin from the abdomen was used to create a breast.
