These photographs are of a patient treated with right mastectomy and double (stacked) DIEP flap breast reconstruction. The woman was newly diagnosed with right breast cancer, and was not a candidate for nipple sparing mastectomy due to the location of the cancer near the nipple skin. The patient's goal was as natural a right breast reconstruction as possible and she wanted to maintain the same size. Double DIEP flaps (stacked flaps) were used to reconstruct the right breast to match the left breast volume.
Below is the preoperative picture.
Below is the woman 6 months after a double (stacked) DIEP flap breast reconstruction, right nipple reconstruction, and right nipple areolar tattooing. Abdominal scar will fade more at 1 year point.
